The sun-soaked days of summer are upon us and while it’s a season famous for barbecues, ice creams, and lemonades, it’s also an opportunity to establish healthy eating habits. Here are five tips to help you eat healthily this summer.

Take Advantage of the Season’s Produce

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy a variety of fresh, colourful fruits and vegetables. From cherries and melons to tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini, the season’s produce is packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that enhance your health and well-being. Embrace these nutrient-dense foods and let them take centre stage on your plate. They add variety, flavour, and various health benefits to your meals.

Grill with Care

Summer and grilling go hand-in-hand. However, what you grill makes a significant difference. Choose lean proteins like chicken, fish, or plant-based alternatives to avoid excessive saturated fats found in some meats. Don’t forget to grill up some vegetables and fruits as well – they develop a delightful smoky flavour that adds a nice twist to your meals. Finally, marinate your foods before grilling. Not only does it enhance flavour, but also reduces the formation of harmful compounds that can develop at high cooking temperatures.

Stay Hydrated

As temperatures rise, so does your body’s need for hydration.
